Going Back to School

school-85619_1280No this is not about kids but about me and about my sweetheart.  We are going back to school.  This is not in the sense of starting in September with the eye to a degree or certificate, but rather a program directed at “older workers” exploring the options of self-employment, starting our own business.

The program is run through our local employment center with both the Provincial and Federal Governments contributing to the funding.  It’s called, “Targeted Initiative for Older Workers”.  They are looking at the 55-64 age range with a few exceptions on either side of the age scale.  We are actually being paid to take this program.  We each had to apply with a business idea that we would or could use in our area and, as it happens, we were both accepted into the same time line.

We started this past week.  The program runs from 9 am to 3:45 pm, every day for 12 weeks.  Today was day 3.  I have to admit I am pretty brain dead at this point.  These three days have held a lot of introspection and sharing.  Yesterday, for example, all the participates had to do the Myers-Briggs Personality Test in the morning and the True Colours Workshop in the afternoon.  Hubby is an INTJ (Myers Briggs) or GREEN (True Colours.  I am ENFP (Myers Briggs) or ORANGE (True Colours).

You can find out more about them below, or if you put either name in a search engine you will come up with many more sites you can peruse.

As we go along, I will keep you posted.
